FOLLOWING THE SUCCESS OF THE INITIAL RESELLER PROMOTION, HP STORAGE SUPPLIES REPEATED THE FORMULA WITH MORE PROMOTIONS. This time, the grand prize was a trip to Oman – the rest of the promotion was down to us to create. The ‘Arabian Nights’ theme and logotype seemed a solid backbone to build the promotion upon, and a variety of sales tools were created from this platform, including a magic carpet game which was fiendishly difficult to master, as the often changing leaderboard suggested. An online portal gave visitors access to not only their sales targets and game, but also all of the marketing materials used throughout the promotion. Branded merchandise further backed up the promotion making this another successful promotion. These promotions also allowed HP to control their media sales throughout the year, as opposed to simply having feast and famine with huge sales spikes at the end of a year.
